Mickey Horner
Course Instructor, Tiling Consultant, Director
Mickey has worked in the tiling industry for almost 25 years, specialising in Victorian floor tiling for most of this time.
Initially avoiding the family tiling business by studying sport science at Leeds University, Mickey took the plunge into tiling once he realised it was in his blood!
After a short space of time, Mickey was running his own tiling projects on new housing developments, sport centres and commercial fit outs.
Mickey's reputation grew as a highly skilled tiler; many builders, contractors and designers sought him out when any intricate tiling was required using Original Style tiles all over the UK and into Europe.
Mickey’s skills were then honed further on private residences tiling hallways, paths and porches where he developed a deeper love of the art, creativity and craft of Victorian floor tiling. Images of his work have since been used in Original Style tiles brochures.
With the VTA course, Mickey hopes to be able to pass on his knowledge and improve both skills and confidence of attendees when installing these stunning floors of timeless beauty.

David is a specialist in Victorian-style geometric tiling of some 15 years, with a background in general residential building work and conventional tile installation. When his local tile retailer was unable to find tilers willing to tackle replica Victorian floors, David’s focus moved towards developing a more sought-after, interesting and rewarding set of tiling skills.
Primarily self-taught, David has done all the hard yards in working out how to lay hundreds of traditional patterned tile floors. He’s now keen to share this valuable learned knowledge with others who wish to take advantage of increased earning potential and job satisfaction, in a marketplace where these skills are currently at a premium.
